Planes & Satellites Lyrics

When I was a boy
You know my momma would say to me
The world's a mystery of darkness and lightWhen I was a kid
I was sent off to inner space
To escape the evil place, I was livin' in
Well, wellWhen I was alone
I would close my eyes at night
Filled with imaginary light, with the moon and stars
Yeah, yeahBut I remember
Livin' in the street
And then my heart just drifts away, into the night
Well, well, wellIn the sky, in the sky, in the sky, in the sky
They got the planes and satellites
Yeah, airplanes and satellites
Whoa, whoaIn the sky, in the sky, in the sky, in the sky
They got the planes and satellites
Yeah, airplanes and satellites
Whoa, whoaYou know my momma said, boy

She said, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby boy
You're the one that's safe?
You know that evil ain't goin' away
It ain't goin' away, no, noBut I look up in the sky, yeah yeah
It ain't flooded with the stars
Pretty lights are flying across
Shinin' on me yeah yeahIn the sky, in the sky, in the sky, in the sky
They got the planes and satellites
Yeah, airplanes and satellites
Whoa, whoaIn the sky, in the sky, in the sky, in the sky
They got the planes and satellites
Yeah, airplanes and satellites
Whoa, whoaWhen I was a boy
I remember livin' in the streets
I didn't have enough to eat
It was a misery, yeahBut I could wake up
And look up in the sky
Hoping that God's light
Would shine on me, yeah yeahIn the sky, in the sky, in the sky, in the sky
They got the planes and satellites
Yeah, airplanes and satellites
Whoa, whoaIn the sky, in the sky, in the sky, in the sky
They got the planes and satellites
Yeah, airplanes and satellites
Whoa, whoa

Sonia Dada are a Chicago rock/soul/rhythm and blues band, which tours with anywhere from 6 to 8 members. The band formed in 1990, when founding member Dan Pritzker heard three future members (Michael Scott, Paris Delane, and Sam Hogan) singing in a subway station. Sonia has become a mainstay of the Chicago musical scene in the years since, incorporating elements of rock, soul, gospel, and funk. Their 1992 debut album, Sonia Dada, produced a minor radio hit, "You Don't Treat Me No Good", and sold more than 100,000 copies.
