Playin' the Races Lyrics

I don't want no woman
Playin' the races all the time
I don't want no woman
Playin' the races all the timeYou know she ain't good for nothin'
She's too broke most all the timeDreamed her number last night, yes, yes, yes
And my baby, she did the same
Dreamed her number last night
And my baby did the sameMy baby got up this mornin'
And she played it just the same
Yes, manI come home every Friday
Throws my check down on the bed
I come home every Friday
Throw my check down on the bedMy baby takes all a my money
Put it down on five, six and two, yes, yesI don't want no woman
Play the races all the time

John Lee Hooker (Coahoma County, Mississippi, August 22, 1917 – Los Altos, California, June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own unique genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his masterful and idiosyncratic blues guitar and singing. His best known songs include "Boogie Chillen" (1948) and "Boom Boom" (1962).
