Please Be Mine Lyrics

You are my fire
The one desire
Believe when I say
I want it that way
When we are two worlds apart
Can't reach to your heart
When you say that I want it that way
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way
Am I your fire
Your one desire
Yes I know
It's too late

But I want it that way
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way
Now I can see that we're falling apart
From the way that it used to be, yeah
No matter the distance I want you to know
That deep down inside of me
You are my fire
The one desire
You are (You are)
Don't wanna hear you say
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Ain't nothing but a mistake
(Don't wanna hear you say)
I never wanna hear you say
(Oh yeah)
I want it that way
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
(Don't wanna hear you say)
I want it that way
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Ain't nothing but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
(Don't wanna hear you say)
I want it that way
Cause I want it that way..

Lymon was credited with their first big hit, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, though in the early '90s, a federal judge ruled after a lengthy trial that Lymon hadn't written "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" -- another member of the Teenagers had.
