Please Wait For Me Lyrics

Just down the road, some sixty miles away
There's smoke in the sky, she's going down in flamesChorus:
Please wait for me, please wait for me
Time will fly like a cannonball, my darlin' you will seeTake all of my love and let it keep you warm
I shall return when we settle the score(chorus)Please wait for meOh I've waited so long, time has yet to prove who was right,
who was wrong
I have to justify all of my fears, down a broken road of tears
I love you, remember I need you, please wait for me(Solo)Just down the road, some sixty miles away
There's smoke in the sky, oh, she's going down in flames(chorus)Please, please wait for me, please wait for me
I'm goin' down the on stair, oh, but a heart with my head low
Please wait for me, my darlin' wait for me, please...
(to fade)

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
