Poetry Girl Lyrics

Oh, sing to me, baby, oh
She was a poetry girl I adored
Late at night, I'd hear songs from her window
Myrrh and frankincense seeped
Through her door and they lingered on
As her fingers caressed her guitar
Felt like the strings of my heart
She was strumming with her words
We made love from afar as she sang her song
They were songs of change, joy and pain
All the love she made
(Like she took the words from)
Every dream I'd known, every love outgrown
Singing on and on
Like she took the words from my heart
(Like she took the words from my heart)
And to the poetry girl, down the hall
Late at night, I would answer her calling

Like the lyrics from one of her songs
She made love to me
(Makin' love to me, yeah)
Now our bodies and souls intertwined
(So close)
On the wings of passion we were soaring
Then by the flickering candle at night
She would sing to me
(Yeah, yeah)
They were songs of change
(They were)
Joy and pain
(Oh yeah)
All the love she made
(Mmm, like she took the words from)
Every dream I'd known
(My dreams)
Every love outgrown
(And my loves)
Singing on and on
(Oh)
Like she took the words from my heart
Ooh, oh baby
Love is often unkind when we fall
For now my poetess sings to another
But when I think of those nights down the hall
From somewhere deep inside
I sing songs of change, joy and pain
All the love I've made
(And I take those words from)
Every dream I've known, every love outgrown
Singing on and on
(And I take those words from)
Songs of change, joy and pain
All the love she made
(Like she took the words from)
Every dream I'd known, every love outgrown
Singing on and on
(Like she took the words from my heart)
I sing songs of change, joy and pain
All the love I've made
(And I take those words from)
Every dream I've known, every love outgrown
Singing on and on
(And I take those words from)
Songs of change, joy and pain
All the love she made
(Like she took the words from)
Every dream I'd known, every love outgrown
Singing on and on
(Like she took the words from my heart)

Eric Benét Jordan (born October 15, 1966 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American R&B and gospel singer. His mother's maiden name is his middle, in a scenario similar to Beyoncé.

Benét's father loved classical music and inspired an interest in music in his son. By his teens, Eric had formed a vocal group with his sister and cousin called "Benét." The group released a self-titled album in 1992 but only sold 70,000 copies possibly due to a lack of proper promotion by Capitol Records.

Also in 1992, Benét's girlfriend, Tami Stauff, gave birth to a daughter they named India. The couple's happiness was short-lived when 25-year old Tami was killed in a car accident on April 24, 1993.

In 1994, Benét signed with Warner Bros. Records, releasing his solo debut album, True to Myself, in fall (1996). His next album, A Day in the Life, was released in 1999; its first single, "Georgy Porgy (featuring Faith Evans)" received significant airplay, but the second single, "Spend My Life With You (featuring Tamia)", became a smash hit. "Spend My Life With You" rose to number one on the American R&B charts, was certified gold, and nominated for a 2000 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. The album, A Day In The Life also won a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Album, Male. Benét also recorded for Earth, Wind, and Fire's 30th anniversary CD.

Benét has also been active as an actor; he had a recurring role on the television program For Your Love (1998 - 2002). He made his film debut in Glitter (2001).

He became engaged to actress Halle Berry in 1999, and they married in January 2001. The couple separated in 2003 and have since divorced.

Eric Benét and Manuela Testolini were married in the early evening [July 31st]. Eric and Manuela revealed that they're also expecting their first child together.

Eric Benet Takes on First Major Acting Gig in 'Trinity' “Trinity Goodheart,” a film about a visitation from an Angel that leads to substantial discovery of awareness and earth shattering faith questions.

The film is based on an original screenplay by Rhonda Freeman-Baraka centered around a 12-year old girl on a mission to reunite her disjointed family, announced by the producer Rick Eldridge.

Eric Benét also has a new album Love & Life
