Poison In The Ink Lyrics

Some might say it's over rated
Staring at their shoes
You're arrows don't have poison
But they bruiseI can't make peace with youAll my heart is on these pages
Open to abuse
I should try to be dishonest
But I loseI can't make peace with youAngry eyes, there's poison in the ink
You've got so much time to think about it
Try to put your finger on it
And figure out what's right for me and mineExpletives and explanations
Fade bruise colored blue
A thicker skin develops
On the woundI won't change it for youAngry eyes, there's poison in the ink
You've got so much time to think about it
Try to put your finger on it
And figure out what's right for me and mineSome might say it's over rated
Staring at their shoes
You're arrows don't have poison

But they bruiseIt's never been for you
I'm just telling the truth

The New Amsterdams began as a solo project in Lawrence, Kansas to then-lead singer for The Get Up Kids Matt Pryor. In 2000, he released his debut album Never You Mind, which was comprised largely of acoustic tracks with sparse accompaniment. However, the album also featured Alex Brahl and Rob Pope providing extra instrument tracks. Two years later in January 2002, Pryor released Para Toda Vida, this time sticking almost purely to acoustic guitar, with the exception of a few tracks utilizing harmonica and banjo as well.
