Pop Along Kid Lyrics

They call him the Pop Along Kid.
They call him the Pop Along Kid. Yeah.Just when you thought you had the latest gifts in fad,
No one can handle your stuff. No.
This kid broke in the scene.
His style was really mean.
This kid's got more than enough. To make a name, they challenge him.
They come from miles around.
It's just that right to chance it. Yeah.On the one for good reason. (Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh.)
They call him the Pop Along Kid. (Yeah, yeah.)
Got more moves that he can use. (That he can use.)
They call him the Pop Along Kid. Yeah. His body twists and bends.
Directions never end.
They named him after the pop. Yeah.
He has a backwards slide with such an easy stride.
He's really something to watch.People ask him how he does it.
There ain't no strings attached.
Not everyone can do it. No.Watch him break every way. (Every which way)
They call him the Pop Along Kid.

(They call him Pop Along.)
When he bets shots,
You'll know why (And you'll know why) they call him the Pop Along Kid. Yeah.
See his body popping.
You know why they call him the Pop Along Kid.
Backslide with the smoothest ride.
They call him the Pop Along Kid. Yeah.Break.
You'll see watch his body break.
You might not catch a second take.
He works his body so precise,
You'll have to see it twice.
He's throwing down a popping set that everybody's gonna get,
So if you wanna take a chance, let's try this popping dance. Break.Let me see you break.
Break.
Let me see you break.
Break.
Let me see you break.
Break.
Let me see you break.
Oooh, pop!To make a name, they challenge him.
They come from miles around.
It's just that right to chance it. Yeah.On the one (On the one) for good reason. (Good reason)
They call him the Pop Along Kid.
(That's what they call him, y'all.)
Got more moves (Got more moves) that he can use. (that he can use.)
They call him the Pop Along Kid.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
They call him the Pop Along Kid.
They call him the Pop Along Kid.
They call him the Pop Along Kid.
They call him the Pop Along Kid.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Shalamar was the creation of Dick Griffey, the booking agent for the television R&B program Soul Train, and British R&B producer Simon Soussan. The group's first single, the 1977 Motown medley "Uptown Festival," featured a bevy of faceless studio musicians; once it became a hit, Griffey decided to form a performing group under the name Shalamar. Through Soul Train, Griffey found Jody Watley, Jeffrey Daniel, and Gerald Brown, the three vocalists that became Shalamar; Brown was quickly replaced by Howard Hewitt in 1978.
