Pretty Things Lyrics

Mama's high heels, cherry lipstick
And a goodwill dress
Play pretending, danced for the mirror
A fairytale princessPretty things are yours to hold
My pretty thing, soon you will know
Pretty things you think you need
But that won't make it beautifulPretty things will rob you blind
Pretty things will fade in time
It's what's inside that makes you shine
My pretty thingIt's only natural, the table's turning
And gracefully I'll learn
How to cradle the one who raised me
Will be too fragile for this worldOh, pretty things are yours to hold
My pretty thing, soon you will know
That pretty things you think you need
But that won't make it beautifulPretty things will rob you blind
Pretty things will fade in time
It's what's inside that makes you shine

My pretty thingSelfless and faithful
As good as you should be
Open and fearless
Oh, what a gift you gave meOh, pretty things are yours to hold
My pretty thing soon you will know
Pretty things, you think you need
But that won't make it beautifulPretty things will rob you blind
Pretty things will fade in time
What lives inside of you still shines
My pretty thing, my pretty thing, pretty thing

Rimes emerged with her first single, "Blue," when she was just thirteen years old in 1996. She is most recognized for her crossover hit "How Do I Live" which, according to the Billboard charts, is one of the most successful songs in American music history, spending 69 weeks on the charts, more than any other song in American history. While country singer Trisha Yearwood's version of the song won a Grammy in 1998, Rimes' version outsold Yearwood's by millions of copies.
