Psalm Lyrics

He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into a flowing fountainHe turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living waterWhen Israel went out of Egypt
The house of Jacob from a stranger's land
Judah was his sanctuary
Israel, his dominionOh, the sea saw it and fled
Jordan was driven back
And the mountains, they skipped like rams
And the little hills like lambsWhat saw thee, oh, thou sea?
What saw thee that thou fled?
What saw thee, oh, thou mountains
That thou skipped like rams? What saw thee, oh thou Jordan
That thou was driven back?
Oh, what saw thee, oh, thou hills

Thou little hills that skipped like lambs?Tremble the earth at the presence
The presence of the Lord
And the God, the God of Jacob
Tremble all the earthHe turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living water
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock into living waterHe turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He, He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rockOh what saw thee, oh, thou sea?
What saw thee, oh, thou Jordan?
Oh, what saw thee, oh, thou hill?
What saw thee, oh, thou mountain? He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rockHe turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rock, He turned the rock
He turned the rockHe turned the rock that was my heart
That was my heart
He turned the rock that was my heart
He turned the rock

Michelle Shocked (born Dallas, Texas, February, 1962) is the stage name of Michelle Karen Johnston, an American singer-songwriter. As a young feminist, she left Texas to travel, Kerouac-style, and was caught up in Reagan-era grassroots politics. Her musical career was ignited by a bootleg recording made around a Kerrville Folk Festival campfire on a Sony walkman. Released in England as ‘The Texas Campfire Tapes’ without Shocked’s authority, its success abroad enticed Mercury Records to offer the newcomer a recording contract.
