Rank Strangers Lyrics

I wandered again to my home in the mountains
Where in youth's early dawn I was happy and free
I looked for my friends but I never could find them
I found they were all rank strangers to meEverybody I met seemed to be a rank stranger
No mother or dad not a friend could I see
I looked for my friends but I never could find them
I found they were all rank strangers to meThey've all moved away said the voice of a stranger
To a beautiful home by the bright crystal sea
Some beautiful day I'll meet them in heaven
Where no one will be a stranger to meEverybody I met seemed to be a rank stranger
No mother or dad not a friend could I see
I looked for my friends but I never could find them
I found they were all rank strangers to me

Porter Wayne Wagoner (August 12, 1927 – October 28, 2007) was an American country music singer. Famous for his flashy Nudie suits and blond pompadour, Wagoner introduced a young Dolly Parton to his long-running television show. Together, "Porter and Dolly" were a well-known duet team for many years. Parton wrote the song "I Will Always Love You" after Wagoner suggested she shift from story songs to focus on love songs.
