Revolutionary Mind Lyrics

Night is here again, baby
I'm stretched out on my bed
Seeing all kinds o' crazy notions
Running through my headI need a progressive woman
I need an awfully liberal woman
Ain't no reactionary, baby
Could ease my revolutionary mindOne hand is on my pillow
One hand is on my head
I see a million nightmares
Tearing around inside my head
I need a progressive woman
I need an awfully liberal woman
I need a social conscious woman
To ease my revolutionary mindIf I could only make you see, babe
I ache and pain and bleed
I know you'll come a running
If you blister both your feet
I need a progressive woman

I need an awfully liberal woman
I need a social conscious mama
To ease my revolutionary mind

The Autumn Defense began as a side project for John Stirratt, who is best known for his work as bassist for alt-country bands Wilco and Uncle Tupelo. Stirratt collaborated with Pat Sansone, who had been known for his work with Joseph Arthur and Josh Rouse, to produce a 1960s-style rock/pop album. This album, The Green Hour, was released in 2001 on Stirratt's own Broadmoor label, with Stirratt doing the bulk of the writing while Sansone focused on the technical recording aspects. The band did some light touring around the United States in between other projects.
