Rhythm of Cruelty (2007 Remaster) Lyrics

I brought your face down on my head
It was something I rehearsed in a dream
You're too good looking for your own damn good
And you don't know what it could meanYou've got me dying of thirst in the meantime
It even hurts when I scream
You've got me drowning and still in the meantime
You don't know what it could meanBecause in my drunken stupor
I've got to admire your ingenuity
And I nod my head, oh so wisely
To the rhythm of your crueltyYou've got me dying of thirst in the meantime
It even hurts when I scream
You've got me drowning and still in the meantime
You don't know what it could meanBecause you want to have your price
And something you could hold your faith up to
I don't know how to tell you this
But you've got it coming all the way to youYou don't even know what it could mean
You don't even know what it could mean
I don't know what it could mean

We don't even know what it could mean

Magazine were an influential British post punk band founded in 1977 by former Buzzcocks singer Howard Devoto and guitarist John McGeoch. The other members of the band's classic lineup included bassist Barry Adamson, keyboardist Dave Formula, and drummer John Doyle. The band burst onto the scene with the single Shot by Both Sides and released five albums before disbanding in 1981. In 2009 the band resurfaced for half a dozen live performances in the UK, with Noko (who collaborated with Devoto in the late 80s in Luxuria) filling the position of guitarist.
