Ride the Country Lyrics

In she comes a ridin' on a mornin' sunrise
I am left to believing all that is standing before my eyesAnd I wonder, now I wonder
Would the sun have shone ever so brightly alone? We been livin' all of our lives on the other side of the hill
Drifting on a golden wing and I can't wait to hear the smileShe can sing, she can sing
Take me through the day, steal my breath awayAnd we ride the countryside, take it high and wide
She brings crackers, cheese and wine, oh, they're gonna bust my sideShe's got strawberries comin' by the dozen
Brown sugar and sweet cream set my mouth, set my mouth a buzzin'Take my hand and run, take me down to the river blue
Throw a whisper to the wind that all you're sayin' is true
All you're sayin' is trueRide the countryside, take me high and wide
Ride the countryside, take me high and wide
Ride the countryside

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
