River Girls Lyrics

I caught you down by the river again
Down where the river girls lie
It's two quiet tearless years it's been
And you still can't say goodbye
You'd have done better to call a friend
You'd have done better to cryThis river's gonna run
Till the sun in the sky
Burns hot enough
To boil it dry
You keep on following
What's running away
Then you might as well yourself
Just lie down with themSome river girls make their way
To the sea
Some settle into the bed
I caught you down
Trying to figure it out
When you could have been

Calling me instead
Come home
Leave it alone
Lift your pretty face to sunThis river's gonna run
Till the sun in the sky
Burns hot enough
To boil it dry
You keep on following
What's running away
Then you might as well yourself
Just lie down with themTwo quiet tearless years
