River Road Lyrics

There's Golden Moon Rise'n in the fields
Scarecrow highway, back roads
I'm lost on empty and hungry for a meal
And the taste of a day not wastedWhen I'm down I let my wheels roll around
I come run'n to you and I roll my windows down
Like to know how it feels to trade your wings in on some wheels
Come with me and we'll take a ride, stick your hand out the passengers side
Down the river road, clear water flows
Down on the river road, it's where I want to go
Down the river roadThere's a moth in the porch light, a curtained window pain
You're eyes in the screen door they tell me
You step out in the night air, call me by name
The crickets cry they're alibis come run with meStep out
Let the wheels roll around
I'll come runn'n to you and I roll my windows down
Like to know how it feels to trade your wings in on some wheels
Come with me and we'll take a ride,
Stick your hand out the passengers side

Down the river road, clear what flows,
Down on the river road
It's where I want to go
Down the River Road

Ellis Paul (born Paul Plissey, January 14, 1965) is an American singer-songwriter and folk musician. Born in Aroostook County, Maine, Paul is a key figure in what has become known as the Boston school of songwriting, a literate, provocative and urbanely romantic folk-pop style that helped ignite the folk revival of the 1990s. His folk-pop music songs have appeared in movies and on television, and are said to bridge the gap between the modern folk sound and the populist traditions of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger.
