Roaming Empire Lyrics

It's Wednesday morning in Saint Paul
It's still tuesday night I didn't sleep at all
The sparrow and the city want to call out the changesAnd the river carries on
Under the highway over early morning sound
The shadows hand in hand until lonesome gods are almost goneWe are the roaming empire.I'll be as honest as I can
I told the truth a lot more when I beganWell I knew a lot more than I do nowAnd if we're just these hearts and bones
I cannot leave yours well alone
When we have nothing left there's nothing less between us.We are the roaming empire.
We are the roaming empire
Yeah, we are the roaming empire

Based in Milwaukee, Maritime formed in 2003 out of the ashes of The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan. After these two bands broke up, singer/guitarist Davey von Bohlen, drummer Dan Didier (of The Promise Ring) and bassist Eric Axelson (of The Dismemberment Plan) hooked up and started a band called In English. The group quickly signed a deal with the record label,anti-, and hired J. Robbins to produce their record.
