Rotten Shame Lyrics

Well, they say, it's a rotten shame
Everyone is for now to blame
It's the end and it's all the same
Rotten ghost without a nameGo away is the other thing
Nothing more than the other wing
On fin, one cotton ball
Copper green on a plaster wallHere I am, maybe again
Hear I am, maybe again
Like a monster hanging from a tree
Here I am, maybe againWood, metal, cars and war
They don't do it anymore
No fruit, cottonseed
They're not worth the price of weedCheese, shot, shattered bones
They're not worth a garden gnome
[Unverified], boxes, yellow tape
They're not worth another shapeHere I am, maybe again
Hear I am, maybe again
Like a monster hanging from a tree

Here I am, maybe againSeen riding, seen flying
Seen riding, seen flyingAnd they say, it's a rotten shame
Everything is for now to blame
In the end when it's all the same
Rotten ghost without a nameGo away, that's another thing
Nothing more than the other wing
One fin, one cotton ball
Copper green on a plaster wallWood, metal, cars and war
They won't do it anymore
They're not worth the price of weed
Nothing more than a cotton seedHere I am, maybe again
Hear I am, maybe again
Like a monster hanging from a tree
Here I am, maybe againHere I am, maybe again
Hear I am, maybe again
Like a monster hanging from a tree
Here I am, maybe againWell, they say it's a rotten shame

The Meat Puppets are a rock band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1980. The band's best known lineup consisted of Curt Kirkwood (vocals, guitar), Cris Kirkwood (bass) and Derrick Bostrom (drums) (a lineup that lasted from its inception to 1996). They began rehearsing together by learning songs from Bostrom's collection of punk rock 45s. After briefly toying with the name "the Bastions of Immaturity," they settled on the name Meat Puppets in June, 1980, after a song by Curt of the same name which appears on their first album.
