Royalty Lyrics

Addicted to the lights and sounds
Want your bad habits and you wear 'em like a crown
Your royalty around here baby get down
Your royalty around here baby get down
Addicted to the lights and the sounds and the flashes
Trashes your best friends back stage passes
Cheap vodka and three sodas got her leaned over
So driven she don't need chauffeurs
And if you're not VIP then give up
to think she's above the bar that's a chin up
And getting lit up's the only thing that's relevant
When all that's in your closet is designer or a skeleton
Full time winning in this bitch no part time
Stickin to the drinks like bar lines
Down's them now you're in presence of royalty
Life of the party don't question her loyalty
Playin all night games
Every day's the same

Roll out the red carpet for the walk of shame
Nothin' to loose but a lot to gain
Fame yeah, you know her name
Royalty, let her reign
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Baby stand tall
You can have it all ohh
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Lookin for a problem
You can have 'em all
You can have them all
You can have them all
people wait in line
people wait in line for 'em
props to promoters sayin he's with the owner
don't play poker but sure could hold them aces
spades, got a couple waitin'
in the palace with a chalice of patron
bottle be a scepter food be thrown
and guys talk shit while the girls eyes watch it
he on some pride rock shit
get a fashion' of the life
fast girls and late nights
every night's the same
bottle's of champagne
girl with the song on
singin in the rain
while everybody's screaming out money ain't a thing
cuz we ain't got a frame cuz we never payed for it
ha just pay it forward and he play it for us
so them cups are never empty but everybody thirsty
And walk the red carpet till it's dirty
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Baby stand tall
You can have it all ohh
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Lookin for a problem
You can have 'em all
You can have them all
You can have them all
You gotta give your blood
You learn it on the streets
now baby it's your nature
now every body's gotta eat
you're better off alone
you're better off than me
But everytime I'm gone I'm everything you need
you got it on your face
it's painted on the walls
you're looking for a problem but you can have them all
you said it all before
you fast for the feast
atleast I care when you can care least
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Baby stand tall
You can have it all ohh
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Lookin for a problem
You can have 'em all
You can have them all
You can have them all
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Baby stand tall
You can have it all ohh
The crown it lies and it won't fall
Lookin for a problem
You can have 'em all
You can have them all
You can have them all
Addicted to the lights and sounds
A bunch of bad habits and you wear 'em like a crown
Your royalty around here baby get down
Your royalty around here baby get down

There are two bands under the same name:
1) A British indie rock band
2) An American emo band active in the early 90's

1) Gomez are an English indie rock band. Their first album, Bring It On, won the Mercury Music Prize in 1998. The genesis of Gomez was the meeting of four friends from Southport. Guitarist and vocalist Ian Ball and drummer Olly Peacock had previously played together in a local heavy metal band called Severed. They joined with guitarist / vocalist / keyboardist Tom Gray and bassist Paul Blackburn. Ian Ball met vocalist / guitarist Ben Ottewell (from Matlock Bath in Derbyshire) at Sheffield University, where they were both studying.

The band played their first gig together in late 1996 in Leeds without a formal name. The band left a sign out for a friend of theirs whose surname was Gomez to indicate that it was the site of their first gig. People saw the sign and assumed that the band's name was Gomez - the name stuck.

The band started recording four-track demos in a garage in Southport soon after. A bidding war erupted when they sent the demos to recording labels, with the band finally signing with Virgin Records' subsidiary, Hut, in 1997.

Gomez's career trajectory has led to the band's name taking on a new meaning. Also known as "Mercury Poisoning", To "do a Gomez" now means to release a debut album so successful and to such unanimous praise that expectations are raised to the point where it is impossible to follow it. This is in reference to the fact that whilst Bring It On is still regarded as one of the best British albums of the late nineties, its follow-ups have met a mixed critical reception and disappointing sales. Despite this their second album was quite popular and allowed them to go on a world tour. They sold out a number of venues though never became a stadium band like Oasis. They still produce music and have a loyal following amongst fans of the best of late 90's rock.
