Rules and Schemes Lyrics

Well, I've fallen in the well of emptiness
But at least I'm dry, I'm not dead just yet
I've been praying for rain, oh, but the sun keeps shining
I've been lost in the dust, oh, it's going to settle soonIn any event, it's a slump I can handle
I turn on my TV, see Gods playing devils
Just need to connect and get back in the stream
Pick up the tools, I see the rules and the schemesThe rules and schemes
The rules and schemesSo I stumbled upon a word hotter than sex
I think it's confusion, I must put it to the test
If all roads are leading to who judges, who? Is it you?
Well, we'd best keep on turning, you know, I'm slipping the nooseIn any respect, there's a path I can travel
There's lots of good people enjoying the angle
Just need to connect and get back in the stream
Pick up the tools and see the rules and the schemesEvery mind that dreams, up on the silver screen
Every fool that screams could break the rules and schemesSo I've fallen in the well of emptiness
But at least I'm dry, I'm not dead just yet
I've been praying for rain but the sun keeps shiningRules and schemes
Rules and schemesEvery mind that dreams, up on the silver screen

Every fool that screams could break the rules and scream
Yeah, it's only words, only words
Only words, only words, only rules and schemes

The Fixx is a British new wave band formed in 1980. The group was formed by college friends Cy Curnin (vocals) and Adam Woods (drums). The pair placed an ad for additional members. Jamie West-Oram (guitar), Rupert Greenall (keyboards) and Charlie Barret (bass) joined the band as a result. Barret left after the first album and was replaced by Dan K. Brown. They are perhaps best remembered for their song "One Thing Leads To Another", from their most successful album, the 1983 Reach The Beach. Other hits include, "Red Skies", "Stand or Fall", "Saved by Zero" and "Are We Ourselves?".
