Running for Our Lives Lyrics

Move along staying close to the wall
Looking over your shoulder just in time
Avoid the light, close your eyes
And put your hand in mine, and put your hand in mineAre we in danger or is it that
You think we might be
But I think I'd like to get out of here
This place it frightens me, this place it frightens meRunning for our lives
At least we're pretending we are
Running for our lives we never get very far
We never get very far, we never get very farStop pretending
This is a child's adventure
The only way I can take it
Is playing the gameBe quiet, there's a gate ahead
Do you think we can make it?
Will it be different or just the same?
How long can we keep escaping
How long can we keep escaping
How long can we keep escaping into another prisonRunning for our lives

At least we're pretending we are
Running for our lives we never get very far
We never get very far, we never get very farMove along staying close to the wall
Looking over your shoulder just in time
Avoid the light, close your eyes
And put your hand in mine, and put your hand in mineRunning for our lives
At least we're pretending we are
Running for our lives we never get very far
We never get very far, we never get very far
We never get very far, we never get very far
We never get very far, we never get

Marianne Faithfull (born 29 December 1946 in London) is an English singer-songwriter and actress whose career spans more than four decades. Her early work in pop and rock music in the 1960s was overshadowed by her struggle with drug abuse in the 1970s. After a long commercial absence, she returned late in 1979 with the highly acclaimed album, Broken English. Faithfull's subsequent solo work, often critically-acclaimed, has at times been rather overshadowed by her personal history. From 1966 to 1970, she had a highly-publicised romantic relationship with Rolling Stones' lead singer Mick Jagger.
