Sagebrush Serenade Lyrics

You and I counting, desert stars and
Lovers, one by one
While mandolins and steel guitars
Help our love alongWho could show you, ever know you
Fall into my dream
Turn around and, them you are in
Cowboy boots and faded jeansIt's a sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenadeAll around us, it surrounds us
Harmony is in the air
We could lose our hearts tonight and
Never even careIt's a sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenade
Sagebrush serenadeWe dance the night away

While the guitars play
We'll blow your sails away
We got it made

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
