Sailor's Lament Lyrics

Sailor’s Lament.
The Smother’s Brothers
Instrumental introduction
I’ve been sailing since forever
Sailing places the wind has blown
Hope someday I’ll stop this roving
Hope I’ll see the hills of home
Chorus
Winds keep callin’, waves keep fallin’
Callin’ me to roam
Sails keep blowin’, wind keeps moanin’
Farewell to hills of home
Instrumental
Waves at night can rise like mountains
Sea birds dance all on that foam
Just like me they’re never settled
Never see the hills of home
Chorus

Instrumental
Guess I’ll never stop my sailin’
Guess my days on land have flown
Guess I’m doomed to be like driftwood
Never see the hills of home, Farewell,
Farewell, farewell, farewell

The Smothers Brothers are an American music-and-comedy team, formed by real-life brothers Tom (or Tommy) (born 2 February 1937) and Dick Smothers (born 20 November 1939). They were both born on Governor's Island in New York Harbor, where their father, a West Point graduate and U.S. Army officer, was stationed. Their father died during the Second World War in a Japanese prisoner of war camp, and they were raised by their mother in the Los Angeles area.
