Sally Lyrics

Sally, what can I say about you?
That would be true without you
With your ribbons hanging rainbows in your hand? You know, he's young and still unproven
And to himself unspoken
And though his roads like thieves appear
Lead him to think he's left what's near
He's gonna look for you to be who you areYour friends are telling you to leave him
As though they really knew him
While they rob you with their honor and your nameBut you won't give up now with all your pure love
Give up with all your strong love
He's gonna know when he's just as far as any body goes
And he'll look for you to be who you areSometimes my thinking gets so heavy
I feel, I stand too closely
And it's so useless, somehow, I should run awayBut that's not the truth no matter what is
No matter who they say is
It's you and you alone can be sure that you're not wrong
You've got all you need to be who you areSally, What can I say about you?
That would be true without you

With your ribbons hanging rainbows in your handYou know, he's young and still unproven
And to himself unspoken
And though his roads like thieves appear
Lead him to think he's left what's near
He's gonna look for you to be who you are

Gilmore is a native of the Texas Panhandle, having been born in Amarillo, Texas and raised in Lubbock, Texas. His earliest musical influence was Hank Williams and the honky tonk brand of country music that his father played. In the 1950s, he was exposed to the emerging rock and roll of other Texans such as Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Lubbock native Buddy Holly. He was profoundly influenced in the 1960s by the likes of The Beatles and Bob Dylan and the folk music and blues revival in that decade.
