San Andreas Fault (Remastered Version) Lyrics

Go west
Paradise is there
You'll have all that you can eat
Of milk an' honey over thereYou'll be the brightest star
The world has ever seen
Sun baked, slender heroine
Of film an' magazineGo west
Paradise is there
An' you'll have all that you can eat
Of milk an' honey over thereYou'll be the brightest light
The world has ever seen
The dizzy height of a jet set life
You could never dreamYour pale blue eyes
Strawberry hair
Lips so sweet
Skin so fairYour future bright
Beyond compare
It's rags to riches

Over thereSan Andreas fault
Moved its fingers through the ground
Earth divide an' plates collided
Such an awful soundSan Andreas fault
Moved its fingers through the ground
Terracotta shattered
An' walls came tumbling downOh promised land
(Oh promised land)
What a wicked ground
(Wicked ground)
Build a dream
Tear it downOh promised land
(Oh promised land)
What a wicked ground
(Wicked ground)
Build a dream
An' tear it downOh promised land
(Oh promised land)
What a wicked ground
(Wicked ground)
Build a dream
An' tear it downHo promised land
(Oh promised land)
What a wicked ground
(Wicked ground)
Build a dream
An' watch it all fall down
Watch it all fall down

Natalie Anne O'Shea Merchant (born October 26, 1963 in Jamestown, New York, U.S.) is a professional musician. She co-founded and fronted the band 10,000 Maniacs in 1981. Later, she went to college and then left the band in 1993 and started a successful solo career. Merchant plays the piano, produces and writes many of her songs.

Her debut solo album Tigerlily (1995) had three top-40 singles: 'Carnival', 'Jealousy' and 'Wonder'. This was followed in 1998 with her second solo album Ophelia, her third in 2001 with Motherland, and fourth in 2003 called 'The House Carpenter's Daughter'.

Merchant has sung alongside Tracy Chapman, Michael Stipe, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel. She has also collaborated with Billy Bragg a number of times, including the 1998 album Mermaid Avenue. Like Bragg, her work touches on social and political themes; she has been active in promoting a number of campaigning issues in both her songs and through the causes to which she lends her name.
