Santa Ana Wind Lyrics

I feel safe inside the violence
Like I feel safe inside a rollercoaster car
I feel safe in the hills up above it all
Sometimes in the middle of the night
I can almost see the starsLiving in L.A. makes me think of you
I think about the good times doing
All the bad things that we used to doI walk the streets at night
To remember why I feel so bad
I walk the streets at night
It helps sometimes to remember whyLiving in L.A
Feels like home in a brand new way
I am like everyone I meet
I have a ghost in my eyes
That will never go awayI walk the streets at night
To understand why I feel so bad
I walk the streets at night
To understand why I am the way I amWe come from a sun
We're lost out in the cold

We run from the light
It's the only way we know
I wanna find a better sun
I wanna find a better world
I wanna find a better heart
So I can find me a better girl
I wanna find a place to live inside
All the violence and the rage
Oh the Santa Ana wind
On a sunny dayLiving in L.A
Is the west coast without your head in the sand
Can't explain this place
If you're not from here you will never understandI walk the streets at night
I think about all the lives that I have had
I walk the streets at night
I think about why all the love that I can't haveWe come from a sun
We're lost out in the cold
We fight for the light
It's the only way we know
I wanna find a better sun
I wanna find a better shine
I wanna find a better world
I wanna find a better life
I wanna find a place to live inside
All the violence and the rage
Oh the Santa Ana wind
On a beautiful dayYeah it is the simple things
That I love about this place
Sunshine and Mexican food
On a Christmas day
Oh the noise in the city
Is the only way to fall asleep
I think I needed to leave
To realize that this is all
This is where I'm suppose to beWe come from a sun
We're lost out in the cold
We fight for the light
It's the only way we know
I wanna find a better sun
I wanna find a better shine
I wanna find a better world
I wanna find me a better life
I wanna find a place
To hide inside all the violence and the rage
But the Santa Ana wind
On a winter's dayI can almost see the future
I can almost see the blue sky
In the middle of the day
Even though all hell is coming down around me now
My Santa Ana wind
Maybe the clouds are gray

Everclear is a rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, USA, in 1992. For most of its existence, Everclear consisted of Art Alexakis (b. 12 April 1962, Los Angeles, California, USA; vocals, guitar), Craig Montoya (b. 14 September 1970; bass, vocals) and Greg Eklund (b. 18 April 1970; drums). Eklund replaced original drummer Scott Cuthbert in 1994. Montoya and Eklund departed the band in 2003, but Alexakis has continued performing as Everclear with a new lineup.

After a solo tour in the fall of 2003, Alexakis decided to continue with Everclear, organizing a new band that made its debut in March of 2004. The new lineup consisted of bass player Sam Hudson, guitarist Dave French, and drummer Eric Bretl. In the summer of 2004, the band added keyboard player Josh Crawley, and swapped Bretl for former Everclear drum tech Brett Snyder. The new lineup released its first recording, a cover of Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land, that summer. A self-released EP of performances recorded for XM Satellite Radio called Closure was given out at shows in the fall of 2004.

Free of a major label, Alexakis spent the ensuing year and half slowly recording material for a new Everclear release. He admitted that the time after the breakup of the original lineup served as a "wake up call", during which he suffered his third divorce and a filing for bankruptcy. Alexakis announced the completion of the album in early 2006,titled Welcome To The Drama Club. The new band is now on Eleven Seven Music.

In August of 2008, drummer Brett Snyder left the band after four years. He was then replaced by Tommy Stewart, who previously played in bands Fuel and Godsmack.
