Save His Soul Lyrics

Hot lights across his face
They told him he was just a disgrace
Stripped down like a frightened child
A shadow stood before him
He thought he saw a smileGuilty of nothing more than fear
It was the dogs of war that sent him here
Caught across enemy lines
Shot in the back
Now he's running out of timeThey all said they loved him
Where were they all now?
Thinking about his hometown
Back in New York CityA slap across his face
Brings him back to this painful place
He would not talk, God save his soul
They took him out and beat him
His mind felt coldA change takes place
It makes you feel numb
Realizing you're just a man

Can make your soul want to runStanding in the firing line
The smoke fills his lungs one last time
And with his last breath he cries out
"Dear God what have I done?"
A shot rings out

It's not every band that’s still staking out new musical territory and embracing fresh challenges more than 22 years into their career, but that’s the case with Blues Traveler. Having long ago graduated from the jam-band underground to mainstream stardom, the iconoclastic combo has consistently stuck to its guns and played by its own rules. For their new release (and Verve Forecast debut) North Hollywood Shootout, the quintet ventured out of their creative comfort zone to explore some adventurous new horizons.
