Save Your Water Lyrics

Well you're right that no one informed you,
I guess I should have warned you, it's all a contest
And you said they all wanted to hide you,
But when they got deep inside you, it's a big messAnd you know me better now and you see I'm in the middle
And you don't know why or how but you sold me down your river
And I'm just plain ol' sandwiched in-between
So save your water woman I won't drink out of your streamWell the shouts of a thousand disciples and the brass Winchester rifles brought the house down
And I know that I don't concern you, but life's got a way it can burn you, you lose the high groundAnd you know me better now and you see I'm in the middle
And you don't know why or how but you sold me down your river
And I'm just plain ol' sandwiched in-between
So save your water woman I won't drink out of your streamYou're a match that I have burned, you're a page that I have turned, and you know the rest
You know I'd never steal your water, it was your whining boss-man's daughter, your half-brother confessed
And you know me better now and you see I'm in the middle
And you don't know why or how but you sold me down your river
And I'm just plain ol' sandwiched in-between
So save your water woman I won't drink out of your stream
Yeah, save your water woman I won't drink out of your stream.

Mudcrutch was an early Tom Petty band, most of which evolved into Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. When Mudcrutch originally headed to Hollywood in search of their first record deal, the band consisted of Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Danny Roberts, Benmont Tench and Randall Marsh. They signed with "Shelter Records" and released one single in 1975. "Depot Street" was the A-side with "Wild Eyes" being the B-side.
