Paul Anthony Brewster was born on February 6, 1956 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Paul can remember learning how to play the guitar and sing harmony by listening to his dad, Willie G and Uncle Bud singing and playing on TV and at family gatherings and also with Flatt and Scruggs records. It was the harmony that always caught his attention. Throughout his early life Paul would regularly fall asleep to the sounds of Carl Story, Buck Owens, Flatt and Scruggs, Merle Haggard and George Jones blasting out of both speakers and bouncing off the walls. Sleeping in the Brewster home was like sleeping on the runway of O'Hare Airport!

Paul's musical career began when he formed a bluegrass band called the "Dixie Rebels". While jamming at the PickNGrin Music Store his Uncle Bud owned, Paul met and began to sing with "The Knoxville Grass", a contemporary bluegrass group. That was during the time when many groups were moving from the traditional bluegrass sound to a more country/rock and roll sound with banjos. "The Knoxville Grass" was one of the first to use the electric bass in their performances and recordings. Singing lead and tenor vocals while playing rhythm guitar, Paul would record three albums with the group, containing locally successful hits such as "Darby's Castle" and "Snow Covered Meadow."

In 1989 Paul moved his young family to Florida where he worked as a golf professional and sang regularly in church. Following the birth of his second child, the Brewster's returned to Knoxville. In 1992 Paul joined the Dollywood bluegrass band, "True Blue" singing lead and recording a project with them. When the tourist season ended, Paul formed his own band "Heartland". Just as "Heartland" was getting started, Ricky Skaggs approached Paul and invited him to become a member of "Kentucky Thunder" singing tenor and playing rhythm guitar.

Paul and his wife Teresa have been married since 1985 and have four children, daughter Calah and three sons, Aaron, Zachary and Seth. The Brewster's reside in Hendersonville, TN where Paul spends most of his time off-road playing golf with his sons and participating in church activities.
