Scavenger Hunt Lyrics

When I got back to the apartment yeah I found your note
Underneath the parrot cage and all the dishes we broke
And I keep looking for you - I keep looking for you
I snatched up two beers, your treasure map and suitcase
Jumped into the wreckage, headed towards the interstate
And I keep looking for you - I keep looking for you
It was somewhere 'round midnight when I steered up the bar
When in the rear view mirror, I saw an unmarked car
Better safe than sorry, so I hit the gas
Finally lost 'em near the border near that underpass
Where your uncle hid the briefcase on our wedding day
Dug it up, tight in the trunk now - it's all here - it's ok
And I keep looking for you - I keep looking for you
So much violence in the world, it's like fightin' off a storm
Some never had a chance and some to it they were born
But folks like you and me? Yeah, we always could confide

to the heart there in the other, and what it hid inside
Now I'm chasin' all the answers while the sky fills up with rain
Checkin' all our old spots - car starting to hydroplane
And I keep looking for you - I keep looking for you
5 AM no message and your cell phone is dead
Downtown at the drop-off, thinkin' somethin' that you'd said
"Dumb luck don't last forever" and straight ahead you stared
Somewhere over my shoulder with the twilight in your hair
Bolting the front door now with news on the radio
Still burning all the evidence, big arrest in Mexico
And I keep looking for you - I keep looking for you

Stan Ridgway's tenure with Wall of Voodoo may have launched him to semi-stardom, but his solo musical style is more blues rock, almost Americana-ish, than WoV's big hit "Mexican Radio." Multiple solo albums and collaborations later, Ridgway morphs with each release. Multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Stan Ridgway was the original lead singer for the band Wall of Voodoo, singing on their debut EP and first two albums, including their only hit song, "Mexican Radio".
