Scottish Windows Lyrics

Gone, advice from a side road
And a dying breath, yellow oak
Big tall weeds and leaves of gold
Now, a wasted clock hollow
And I'm not the drowning man you think
Though I flail my arms I refuse to sinkAll I ever wanted was to see
Scottish windows opening for me
It's all I ever needed in the endI saw you in a store window
Dress the orange window glow
Walking down a winding close
Gray evening fell over me
And I saw your face, though fleetingly
As the bus pulled away from meAll I ever wanted was to see
This glimmer in your eyes as they closed on me
It's all I ever needed in the endYou need different boots in this country
An' I see you through the screen door
Abandoned below in the birch's above you
You left me on the church floorAll I ever wanted was to see

Scottish windows closing as I leave
It's all I ever needed in the end
In the end, in the end
In the end, in the endDo do do
Do do do
Do do do
...

Formed in Boston in 1987, According to Songfacts, Buffalo Tom's name is derived from the band Buffalo Springfield and the first name of the drummer Tom Maginnis. The band epitomized the rise of indie guitar rock in the 1990s, but unfortunately they had only limited commercial success, despite the consistently high quality of their records. While Buffalo Tom never 'officially' broke up, they took a seven year break, starting around 1999/2000.
