Scratch + Hiss Lyrics

Every scratch and hiss
Walled off and windowed away drowsy in the numbness
Hammering each other through the days, deny deny
We play dead inside to hide
We're chained to something sharp and wild
We're holding hands and twisting knives
Staring without blinking into each other's eyes
Love through suffering and sacrifice in bliss
Remember this in misery, through every scratch and hiss
Reconnect and disconnect dissect in obtuse angles
Undercover angered lovers, please don't cry don't cry
We lay in our bed and dread
We're chained to something underfed
We're holding hands and twisting knives
Staring without blinking into each other's eyes
Love through suffering and sacrifice in bliss
Remember this in misery, through every scratch and hiss
Fanged hounds, we throw down

Fight to win we'll never understand the purpose
Round and round, we fall down
What now keeps us bound is only yearning
To be found, and feel the burning
Maybe even love deserving
We're holding hands
We're holding hands and twisting knives
Staring without blinking into each other's eyes
Love through suffering and sacrifice in bliss
Remember this in misery, through every scratch and hiss
We're holding hands
We're holding hands

In March 2011, Lera Lynn released her debut solo album, Have You Met Lera Lynn?, to international acclaim. Hand picked from Lynn’s collection of songs written over the previous decade, the album elucidates a painstaking inventory of past experiences, as well as artistic challenges in her present pursuits, and her hopes for the future. Lynn won the 2011 Chris Austin Songwriting Competition held at Merlefest for her song, “Bobby, Baby,” sharing the honor with such alumni as Gillian Welch & Tift Merrit. “Bobby, Baby” also won an award for Best Alt. Country Song in the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards Vox Pop poll, which is determined not by judges but by online fan voting. Just as important to her, Lynn walked away with "Best Country Artist” at her hometown of Athens, GA's 2012 Flagpole Music Awards. Read more on Last.fm.
