Sellotape (pencils in the wind) Lyrics

[Brett's voice narrating]
Dear Jermaine, by the time you read this, I will be far, far away, at Coco's house, and I will no longer be residing--And that is just one of the reasons why I'm moving out. You didn't seem to understand th--And the most important thing for me to say is that--Do you remember that time that seagull--Yours sincerely, Brett.[Jermaine]
Lives are like retractable pencils
If you push them too hard theyre gonna break
And people are like paper dolls
Paper dolls and people, theyre a similar shape
Hmm hmm hm hmm[Brett]
Love is like a roll of tape
Its real good for making two things one[Jermaine]
But just like the roll of tape
Love sometimes breaks off before you were done[Brett]
Another way that love is similar to tape
That Ive noticed
Is sometimes its hard to see the end[Together]
You search on the roll (search on the roll)
Search on the roll (searching round the roll)
Search on the roll (search)[Together]
With your finger nail

Again and again
And again and again[Jermaine]
And again...[Brett]
Whoa, whoa[Together]
Brown paper, white paper
Stickin' together with the tape
The tape of love
The sticky stuff[Jermaine]
Brett.[Brett]
Hey man. What are you doing here?[Jermaine]
Mary and I miss you and we want you to rejoin the band again.[Brett]
Really?[Jermaine]
Yeah, on one condition. That you...[Brett]
I'm not gonna kill her man.[Jermaine]
No, just leave-- just leave her, not--[Brett]
Oh no I'm not gonna leave her, I told you that. You know, I like the band, but no I'm not leaving Coco.[Coco]
I wouldn't mind. I mean if that's what you really wa--[Brett]
Shush, baby.[Coco]
I don't-- I don't really see us as a long term--[Brett]
Shush.[Jermaine]
So what's it gonna be man? The girl or the band?[Brett]
Well it's gonna be Coco.[Jermaine]
Oh. Are you sure?[Brett]
Yeah.[Jermaine]
Oh I thought you... I was sure you were gonna say the band.[Brett]
No I'm staying with Coco.[Jermaine]
I guess you can still be in the band[Brett]
Okay.[Jermaine]
Okay. Okay well I'll see you later. Actually I'm gonna wait til the bus stops, and then... get off.[Together]
Brown paper, white paper
Stickin' together with the tape
The tape of love
The sticky stuff[Jermaine]
Oooh hooPeople people
Paper paper
Paper paper
People people
People people
Pencil Pencil
Paper paper
Put the pencil to the paper
Give the paper to the people
Let the people read about the sello tape
Oh baby baby yeah[Brett]
You know, Jermaine, Ive been thinking about love. And I guess its the very strongest adhesive.[Jermaine]
Oh sorry, Bret. Were you talking to me? I was humming. What did you say?[Brett]
No, doesn't matter.[Together]
Brown paper, white paper
Stickin' together with the tape
The tape of love
The sticky stuff
Yeah
Ooh brownBrown paper, white paper
Stickin' together with the tape
The tape of loveStick
Stickin' together
Stick stick stickin' together
Yeah yeah

Flight of the Conchords is a Grammy award-winning folk/pop/comedy duo comprised of Bret Mckenzie formerly of The Black Seeds, Video Kid, and The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra fame and Jemaine Clement formerly of The Humourbeasts, who met in 1998 while studying film and theatre in Wellington, New Zealand. Billing themselves as "New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo", the group uses a combination of witty banter and acoustic guitars to work the audience.

The band has released four records, Folk the World Tour; a self-titled album, Flight of the Conchords; an EP, The Distant Future, which won a 2007 Grammy for Best Comedy Album, and a sophomore effort for Sub Pop, I Told You I Was Freaky released October 20, 2009.

In 2002 they performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time. Returning in 2003, with a new show, they were nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award. They also performed there in 2004.

In 2005, BBC Radio 2 broadcast their first radio series. Largely improvised, it features Rob Brydon as their narrator, rhys darby as their manager and Jimmy Carr as a devoted fan called Kipper. Also in 2005, HBO gave the group a special on their Friday night half-hour stand-up comedy series One Night Stand.

Jemaine Clement has appeared in 2006 television commercials for Outback Steakhouse in the U.S. This advertising campaign was launched during Superbowl XL. He also narrates the world famous in New Zealand television commercials for L&P.

The duo currently stars in their award winning television series, also entitled "Flight of the Conchords", which began on the American television channel HBO in June 2007. Its first season had 12 episodes and the second and final season - which began in January 2009 had ten episodes.
