Seventh Heaven Lyrics

I've been to places where the sun goes down
Each night and never rises
I've been to places in a dark room
Where we played with our disguisesHeaven, I'm in heaven
I'm in seventh heaven now
Seventh heavenIt was a dream, I heard a voice
I put it down to wishful thinking
It was a dream, a silent scream
Out of the blue, a new beginningHeaven, I'm in heaven
I'm in seventh heaven now
Seventh heavenAnd then I fell upon a stroke of luck
That led to my good fortune
And then I fell upon my knees
And gently kissed the ground you walk onHeaven, I'm in heaven
I'm in seventh heaven now
Seventh heaven

Eddie first came to the attention of the jazz audience as a tenor saxophonist with the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra. When Thad and Mel first organized their band in 1966 to play Monday nights at the Village Vanguard in New York (where it still plays), Eddie was one of the first musicians they called. Later that year, he sank $400 in a round-trip flight to Vienna to enter the International Competition for Modern Jazz, a contest organized by the pianist Fredrich Gulda and sponsored by the city of Vienna, and won first prize on saxophone.
