Shade and Honey Lyrics

I could look in your face for a thousand years
It's like a civil war of pain and of cheer
But if you was a horse I could help you with your chains
I could ride you through the fields by your fiery maneMay your shade be sweet and float upon the lakes
Where the sun will be made of honeyI'll cry diamonds while you burn
'Cause no one here can save you
She's returning to the earth
But one day she'll be silverStars are dying in my chest
Until I see you again
She was born with the wings of a hawk
But now she combs her hair with bloodMay your shade be sweet and float upon the lakes
Where the sun will be made of honey
May your shade be sweet and float upon the lakes
I know the sun could be made of honeyMay your shade be sweet, may your shade be sweet
And float upon the lakes, may your shade be sweet

Sparklehorse was an American alternative rock band formed in 1995 and led by Mark Linkous (September 9, 1962 - March 6, 2010), a Richmond, Virginia native and last of a long line of southern coalminers. Linkous recorded much of Sparklehorse's material in his home studio, and his Southern Gothic vision guided Sparklehorse. Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Minor was a frequent collaborator.
