She's a Piece of Work Lyrics

Some things look hard
And then they're not
Like getting on a tightrope
And falling offBut there's never been anything
Harder than loving her
She's so demanding, so intense
Her expectation of the ordinary is so immenseBetter take her at her word
It would be easier to give up than live up to her
Such ludicrous perfection
Isn't found on earthAnd for anyone who said
That love was easy
I said, for anyone who said
That love was easyShe's a piece of work
She's a piece of work
She's a piece of workShe's up and down
She's round the wheel
She's governed absolutely
By the way she feelsThat's a lethal combination

In a small house when it rainsWe sit around, then it pours
Me, I'm so addicted
To the great indoors
And she wants to shine againShe's the only person
I have ever met
Who makes me feel
I haven't tried hard yetAnd for anyone who said
That love was easy
I said, for anyone who said
That love was easyShe's a piece of work
She's a piece of work
She's a piece of workAnd for anyone who said
That love was easy
I said, for anyone who said
That love was easyShe's a piece of work
She's a piece of work
She's a piece of work, yeah

John Wesley Harding (b. 22 October 1965) is a folk/pop singer-songwriter who has called his style of music "folk noir" and "gangsta folk". He was born Wesley Stace in Hastings, East Sussex, England. His given name, Wesley, comes from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who preached one of his last sermons in the town where Harding was born. His stage name may be seen as an almost inevitable nickname for a folk-pop musician, in that his first name overlaps with the Bob Dylan album (and song) "John Wesley Harding".
