Twelve Girls Band (女子十二乐坊,女子十二樂坊,女子十二楽坊) is a music group with thirteen female artists, always appearing as twelve on stage, using traditional Chinese instruments to play both Chinese traditional and Western songs. Formed on June 18, 2001, the girls were selected by audition from over 4000 contestants, all studying at prestigious schools in the People's Republic of China (China). They have become very popular in Japan (holding the highest sales numbers of any Chinese musical artist ever), the PRC, Hong Kong, and abroad. Twelve Girls Band has played two tours in the United States.
