Show Me How This Thing Works Lyrics

Show me how this thing works (x2)Last night
i saw it fall out of the heavens
It was gleaming chrome
with red lettering
It had a handle,
two meters, a knob for the volumeShow me how this thing works (x2)When it make me rich, when it make me glad
When it make me love for all humanity
When it keep my poor and aching heart at bay (oh, oh, oh)
When it glow at night, when it make a hum
When it make the girls think that I'm less geekyShow me how this thing works (x2)We took it down to the physics laboratory
Police had the building mostly quartered off
A crowd was gathered, there were TV camerasShow me how this thing works (x2)When it make me rich, when it get me high
When it look good with the rest of my furniture
When it make a soft and pleasing tone at night (oh, oh, oh)
When it heal the sick, when it feed the poor
When it give me everything I ever dreamed ofShow me how this thing works (x2)(solo)Show me how this thing works (x2)When it make me rich, when it make me wise
When it give my empty love a little bit of meaning
When it make the lions lay on down with the lambs (oh, oh, oh)

When it cure this rush, when it give us cash
When it do all this without a serious side effectShow me how this thing works (x2)

Cracker is an American alternative rock band fronted by Camper Van Beethoven singer David Lowery, with guitarist Johnny Hickman. They are best known for their hit songs "Low" and "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)". The band's website once noted Cracker as "The only band to ever open for both Grateful Dead and Ramones," a unique distinction which is also indicative of the band's sound and style. Cracker comfortably mixes influences and sounds ranging from classic country music, psychedelia, punk and folk into their brand of "americana" style rock.
