Silent Victory Lyrics

Somewhere beneath the laughter
The anger begins to affect her
Timid like a Chinese whisper
Calm like a needle in the eye of a twisterWe won't surrender until the end
Truthful pretenders
Won't someone hear the battle-cry?She said, "You're a substitute"
She said, "Can't you see we're through?"
One more silent victory
(Victory, victory, victory, victory)Struggling hard to forget her
He slowly begins to regret her
Anger is all that she lived for
Walked over his life and then out through the front doorWe won't surrender until the end
Truthful pretenders
Won't someone hear the battle-cry?She said, "You're a substitute"
She said, "Can't you see we're through?"
One more silent victory
(Victory, victory, victory, victory)We won't surrender until the end
Truthful pretender

Like somebody seized the day
Love ran awayShe said, "You're a substitute"
She said, "Can't you see we're through?"
One more silent victory, one more silent victory
(Victory, victory, victory, victory)

The Living End formed in 1994 after lead singer/guitarist Chris Cheney and bassist Scott Owen were introduced to each other by their older sisters at Wheelers Hill Secondary College in Melbourne, Australia. Cheney, obsessed with 80s rockabilly group the Stray Cats, convinced Owen to learn the double bass instead of the piano and they started playing gigs under the name Runaway Boys after the title of a Stray Cats song. The group went through a succession of drummers before settling on Joe Piripitzi.
