Silver Moon Lyrics

With The First National BandSee the lazy windmills slowly turning
Cutting up the marble canyons of the sky
See the dust around my feet go churning
Moving with the winds down the highways
Of goodbyesStanding in the lonely light of the silver moon
Looking over maps of memories for the road
Standing in the lonely light of the silver moon
With the unexpected destination of my home
Half the thoughts I'm thinking speak in sighs
As that same old wave of lonliness returns
And I can see you when I close my eyes
Speaking very softly as you turnStanding in the lonely light of the silver moon
Looking over maps of memories for the road
Standing in the lonely light of the silver moon
With the unexpected destination of my homeNow I must go
Go and let go
Standing in the lonely light of the silver moon
Looking over maps of memories for the road

Standing in the lonely light of the silver moon
With the unexpected destination of my home

Robert Michael Nesmith (born December 30, 1942) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, perhaps best known as a member of The Monkees. A pioneer of country rock, Nesmith notably composed "Different Drum", a hit for Linda Ronstadt (by way of The Stone Poneys). In 1981, Nesmith won the inaugural Grammy Award for Video of the Year for Elephant Parts, a "video record" consisting of humorous sketches and visual representations of songs, breaking new ground for the concept of music videos, which would shortly become ubiquitous with the advent of MTV.
