Simple Things Lyrics

She was standin' on a flatbed
Wavin' at the lawn chairs
Fourth of July parade
There were tootsie rolls flyin'
Old vets cryin'
Everybody had a flag to wave
Hey hey hey! Hey hey hey!
Back to the simple things
Well, it's been such a long time
Gonna dig around and try to find
That lonely fishin' pole
Yeah, I ain't gotta catch a thing
Just drift off on a shady bank
And listen to the river roll
Hey hey hey! Hey hey hey!
Back to the simple...
Back to the simple things

Back to the there ain't no rush
Back to the nothin' much
Back to the back and forth front porch swing
Back to the back yards
Back to a million stars
Back when it used to be...
Simple things
Sometimes I wanna take this phone
Find a bridge to slow down on and
Give that thing a whirl
Yeah, take a dirt road, take your hand
For a while just be the man who's
All about you girl
Hey! Hey hey hey! Hey hey hey!
Back when it used to be
Girl just you and me
Back to the simple things
Simple things...
Back to the simple things

Montgomery Gentry is a country music duo, founded in the 1990s, consisting of Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is the older brother of John Michael Montgomery. Some sources say that Troy Gentry is the son of Bobbie Gentry, which is untrue. Troy's parents are Lloyd and Pat Gentry. Eddie, Troy, and John were in a band called Early Tymz. Eddie and Troy continued to perform after John left to pursue a solo career. The duo went through several name changes before they decided to call themselves Montgomery Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is bald and seemingly always wears a hat. Eddie also has a habit of twirling his microphone on stage, which has become somewhat of a signature.

The band has released five CDs including "Some People Change" which was released in 2006
