Sink Sand Lyrics

Have you ever wondered where she goes
Have you ever wandered in the atmosphere
Have you ever sought the common sting
Only to find a hollow ring
I'm pushing back the affect
All the time
Dismayed in grey
Sink sand devours precious time (all the time)
I think in hours
Set the clocks behind
Once there was what once would probably do
I live to laugh but why not with you
Alive like the care taker of Lenin's tomb
Shifting like a conscript out to sea
Miles from home and six feet from bed
We stood at a distance out under the sun
Then gazed through waves above tarry black road
A scene so simple now it's Guernica

All grace ablaze
Sink sand devours precious time (all the time)
I think in hours
Set the clocks behind
Once there was what once would probably do
I live to laugh but why not with you
I take two strokes to the right and find
Find I've lost sight
Find the way back to shore alright
Under a bonfire's red light
Sink sand devours precious time (all the time)
I think in hours
Set the clocks behind
Once there was what once would probably do
I live to laugh but why not with you
Alive like the care taker of Lenin's tomb

Lieutenant is the side project started by bassist Nate Mendel, formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, The Fire Theft, and currently of the Foo Fighters. Their debut album, "If I Kill This Thing We're All Going To Eat For A Week" was released on March 10th, 2015 on Dine Alone Music. Nate recorded this album on his off-time from his very busy schedule with the Foo Fighters. The project was first mentioned roughly five years ago when Nate was learning to play guitar. He received help from former Modest Mouse drummer Joe Plummer and fellow band mate Chris Shiflett.
