Sinking In Lyrics

This is a drag, that it's too late now
And I wanted to tell you that I was wrong
I didn't realize I still hold on to you
But I still doWas it that I turned everyone against you?
Was it that I didn't defend you?
Was it that I never had your back?
No, no was that I was always tryin' to save you?
And you never wanted me to
Or was it that I loved you?You don't seem to see me sinkin' in, do you?
You're not content in your own head, are you?
You just want to kick me once again, don't you?
Don't you baby? Don't you baby?
Did it againI don't stop payin'
You don't look so good to me, my friend
Is it because of me I really left this time?
Did you ever say goodbye? Was it that I had a crush on your friend?
Was it that I left for another man?
Was it that I didn't know?

No, no you were in over your head and I
Didn't see what I had, did I?
No, I didn't and uhYou don't seem to see me sinkin' in, do you?
You're not content in your own head, are you?
You just wanna kick me once again, don't you?
Don't you baby? Don't you baby? Was it that everyone would just kiss my ass?
I couldn't see through it and you could
Yeah now look what's come of us here ten years later?
I jump from one to the other
You're still worryin' an' your mother
And I almost went under babyYou don't seem to see me sinkin' in, do you?
You're not content in your own head, are you?
You just wanna kick me once again, don't you?
Don't you baby? Don't you baby? You don't seem to see me sinkin' in, do you?
You're not content in your own head, are you?
You just wanna kick me once again, don't you?
Don't you baby? Don't you baby?
Don't you baby? Don't you baby?

Bent By Elephants are a 7 piece folk rock band stationed in Montreal, linking patch-work improv pieces into rhythmic pop-folk songs.

Bent By Elephants came together in Montréal in 2009, when Luke Fowlie and Chesley Walsh met a party and started talking about music. Chesley was a songwriter from Los Angeles looking for collaborators, and Luke was a classical guitarist with connection in Montréal improv and jazz. Together they released their debut LP in 2010, This Is Water. The album embodied the band’s unique approach to songwriting, traversing a musical landscape from minimalist lines of melody to overlapping cacophonies.

Their 2015 release, The Shore, represents a new chapter in the band’s evolution, moving away from the orchestral folk of This is Water towards a raw & rattling album of contrapuntal electric guitars and sweeping synths. The album was recorded and mixed at The Treatment Room, home of Plants and Animals, under the careful guidance of resident recording engineer, Gilles Castilloux, and musical champ Michael Feuerstack. They collaborated on the mix, resulting in a rich, full-sounding record.
