Sittin' on a Fence Lyrics

What is it gonna be
When the dust has settled
Will you clearly see
Down the road you're driftin'
Lost and caught in confusionWaitin' for the day
You won't have to choose
Who can have their way
Without taking sides or goin'
Feelin' so badCome on and take a stand
'Cause you're sure to fall
Sittin' on a fence
Don't you sit on a fenceWhere should you begin
Lookin' for an answer
How can you give in
When worry has you wishin', hopin'
Sayin' you don't knowNow it's up to you
Stand on what you feel
Or fall if you should lose

Nothing's ever certain to last
On the long runCome on and take a stand
'Cause you're sure to fall
Sittin' on a fence
Don't you sit on a fence

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
