Sleeper Awake Lyrics

Rise up from your deep sleep, baby
Wake up from your slumber
Ive got your anesthetic ready
I have got your numberIll do everything to help you
Make a smooth transition
The coffees in the grinder
The keys in the ignitionSleeper, arise
Wipe the sleep from your eyes
Get outta your bed
Quit playing deadSleeper, awake
How much time does it take?
Lie there still and Ill kiss you
Oh, how Ive missed you
Sleeper, awakeYouve slept for a thousand years
But not like Sleeping Beauty
Maybe youre the princess
Who refused to do her dutyNo poisoned spinning wheel
No blood upon the singer

You just buried your alarm
And turned off the phone ringerSleeper, arise
Wipe the sleep from your eyes
Get outta your bed
Quit playing deadSleeper, awake
How much time does it take?
Lie there still and Ill kiss you
Oh, how Ive missed you
Sleeper, awakeAh, but Im scared
One touch of your cold cold lips
Perhaps Ill join you there
But I dont care
This is a risk, this is a risk
This is a kiss, this is a kissSleeper, arise
Wipe the sleep from your eyes
Get outta your bed
Quit playing deadSleeper, awake
How much time does it take?
Lie there still and Ill kiss you
I cant resist you
Sleeper, awake

John Wesley Harding (b. 22 October 1965) is a folk/pop singer-songwriter who has called his style of music "folk noir" and "gangsta folk". He was born Wesley Stace in Hastings, East Sussex, England. His given name, Wesley, comes from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who preached one of his last sermons in the town where Harding was born. His stage name may be seen as an almost inevitable nickname for a folk-pop musician, in that his first name overlaps with the Bob Dylan album (and song) "John Wesley Harding".
