Sleepwalking Lyrics

Out on the street and the rain is fallin, I got nowhere to go
Here in my heart I can hear you callin, maybe I should come back home
I dont know what keeps us together but I cant break the chain
I dont mind a little stormy weather but I just cant stand the rainHey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moon
Hey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moonSleep wont come, so you lie there waitin, lookin at the silvery light
Tellin yourself theres nothin new, so whatever gets you through the night
Meanwhile back in the music business, the beat goes on and on
I sell my soul to the company man when theres nothin else to lean uponHey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moon
Hey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moonPeople come, people go, friends they disappear, theres only one thing
That I wanted to know, tell me where do we go from here
Everybodys on the make, everybodys tryin to get ahead
In a world like this, you just exist to feed the walkin deadHey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moon
Hey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin

Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moonLookin out on a world gone crazy, waitin for the fun to begin
The race is on, yeah theyre gettin ready, Jesus what a state were in
Meanwhile down in my backyard Im sittin doin solitary
Now that I've milked the sacred cow, I just worry bout the militaryHey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moon
Hey, sleep, sleepwalking, hey, deep sleep talkin
Hey, reelin and rockin, hey, wailin at the moonGet ready
Get ready
Get ready

Gerald Rafferty (born April 16, 1947, in Paisley, UK and died 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer and songwriter. In his early years, Gerry Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground. Poetically, his biggest hit "Baker Street" was about busking at a tube station. After working with Billy Connolly (now better known as a comedian) in a band known as The Humblebums, he recorded a first solo album, Can I Have My Money Back.
