Slip (1998 Unreleased Hybrid Theory Demo) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
In the centre of the silence, violent thoughts that you go through
The thick smoke of flickerin' lights that brighten the room
All the things that you wanted to say get lost and thrown away
You can bait and hesitate to speak your mind
Can't turn back when you cross the line
Sometimes there's someone you know who just doesn't care
Has to see you go to know you were there[Pre-Chorus]
This is the summer of the rain
Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute
Made the gun to run and end this race
But I never look back and I forget
Know that this is the summer of the rain
Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute
Made the gun to run and end this race
But I never look back and I forget it[Chorus]
I know that all of this will soon be gone
You don't really have to prove them wrong[Verse 2]

Sometimes you got no control of where you go
Taken down a road you don't know
And you feel so lost that you wanna hide your face
You don't recognise the place you're in
Sometimes the sun doesn't shine your way
Sometimes the night doesn't turn to day
Sometimes the lights so bright it burns through the night
And keeps the darkness at bay[Pre-Chorus]
This is the summer of the rain
Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute
Made the gun to run and end this race
But I never look back and I forget
Know that this is the summer of the rain
Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute
Made the gun to run and end this race
But I never look back and I forget it[Chorus]
I know that all of this will soon be gone
You don't really have to prove them wrong
I know soon enough you'll make them see
You'll be far away from them with me[Bridge]
Follow the link in the chain without a name
Sealin' the light in the dark contains the rain
Taking you away from the place you've been trapped
Break all you know to bring it all back[Pre-Chorus]
This is the summer of the rain
Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute
Made the gun to run and end this race
But I never look back when I forget it
Know that this is the summer of the rain
Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute
Made the gun to run and end this race
But I never look back when I forget it[Chorus]
I know that all of this will soon be gone
You don't really have to prove them wrong
I know soon enough you'll make them see
You'll be far away from them
Alone with me

Linkin Park is an American band from Agoura Hills, California. Formed in 1996, the band rose to international fame with their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005 and multi-platinum in several other countries. Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200 album chart in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay.

Having adapted the nu metal and rap metal genres to a radio-friendly yet densely layered style in Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the band explored other genres in their next studio album, Minutes to Midnight, which was released in 2007. The album topped the Billboard charts and had the third best debut week of any album that year. The band has collaborated with several other artists, most notably with rapper Jay-Z in their mashup EP Collision Course, and many others included on Reanimation. The band's most recent studio album, A Thousand Suns, was released on September 8, 2010. Linkin Park has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards.
