Slippin’ Away Lyrics

Monday's promise is Tuesday's lie
Saturday's party is Sunday's fight
Somethin's wrong with you and I
Love's gone wrong that used to be rightAnd I can feel it slippin' away
Slowly, slowly slippin' away
It'll be gone in a few more days
If we don't stop this love of ours
From slippin' awayWednesday's kisses are Thursday's frowns
We can't live two days in a row
When our world's not upside down
Here we stand watchin' it goAnd I can feel it slippin' away
Slowly, slowly slippin' away
It'll be gone in a few more days
If we don't stop this love of ours
From slippin' awayRoses are red, violets are blue
Sugar is sweet some of the time
This puzzle's missin' a piece or two
We've got the grapes but never the wineAnd I can feel it slippin' away

Slowly, slowly slippin' away
It'll be gone in a few more days
If we don't stop this love of ours
From slippin' awayAnd I can feel it slippin' away
Slowly, slowly slippin' away
It'll be gone in a few more days
If we don't stop this love of ours
From slippin' awayAnd I can feel it slippin' away
Slowly, slowly slippin' away
It'll be gone in a few more days
If we don't stop this love of ours
From slippin' away

Jean Shepard (born November 21, 1933 in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma as Ollie Imogene Shepard)was one of the first female vocalists in the country music field to become a major star in the early 1950's. Shepard's family moved west to Visalia, California in hopes of a better life. In high school, Shepard formed the Melody Ranch Girls, which became locally famous. One night, Country star Hank Thompson saw Shepard performing at a show and liked what he heard. With Thompson's help, Shepard was able to get a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1952.
