Slow Down Lyrics

Yea, hey I'm the man right, so I think I'm goin' live it.
Since my mother birthed me, I've only been exquisite.
And I was on the grind, while you was getting the digits.
Got this down to a science, you would swear I'm livin' physics.
But my life is different.
What good is the success if the happiness is missing?
3:30 I am dismissing, any competition, cause I gotta eat.
You show me a rapper, that's someone I gotta beat.
And most people red shirt, cause they can not compete.
Think and my wingspan says anything's in my reach.
When Atlanta was poppin', BMF with Big Meech.
I was stuck in the school, I was more than they could teach.
But slow and steady wins the race.
Thought I was hare, but I'm moving at a tortoise pace.
And that's what I prefer, so get a cup and mix it up and let it go down.
I know now, that life feels better when you slow down.
[Hook:]

Slow down, man I gotta slow down.
There's way too many friends, that gossip will go around.
I wish I woulda knew then what I know now.
But for now, life feels better when you slow down.
Man I gotta slow down.
There's way too many friends, that gossip will go around.
I wish I woulda knew then what I know now.
But for now, life feels better when you slow down.
I know it now, wish I knew it then.
Diminished returns, I burned through a few of them.
Remember when I was in the position you were in.
Shit would be different if I had it all to do again.
Oh, to be new again.
Young upstart, from the rough parts, tryna make his dreams come true again.
I watch goals disappear while pursuin' them.
Seen cats capture the flag, then let it ruin them.
A grasshopper tryna learn kung fu again.
It's deja vu, livin' shit I've been through again.
A little word from the wise, remain true within.
This is from a boss, look it where the roach crew has been.
Yea, it's true I've got the soul of an old town.
And real talk, that what come around, go around.
Before the drama gets too large to hold down.
It's in your best interest, to try to slow it down.
[Hook:]
Man I gotta slow down.
There's way too many friends, that gossip will go around.
I wish I woulda knew then what I know now.
But for now, life feels better when you slow down.
Man I gotta slow down.
There's way too many friends, that gossip will go around.
I wish I woulda knew then what I know now.
But for now, life feels better when you slow down.
Hey, I'm sorry I took long, you prolly could swell me sooner.
And let me take the time out to dispel the rumors.
Chiddy Bang still here, keep it rollin' like a victim in a wheel chair.
I'm tired of everybody that be gossipin'.
They wanna know if we be makin what we be profitin'.
Snoop Dogg, now-a-day's I sip a lot of gin.
And at this altitude I'm kinda lower oxygen.
Maybe I need to breathe.
It's all or nothin' when you nothin' at all.
That's the reason I'm so excessive when I'm up in the mall.
Why it's takin' so long, I got cribs to get.
And don't I lay my plot down like arithmetic.
I said I done it here, and south money's here.
I was born to do this, you don't need to check my Punnett square.
So get a blunt of what you want and let it go round.
And I'm a make it to the stars with the bars.
Yellow brick road, my life the Wizard of Oz.
I know gettin' a job is always gonna be hard, but for now, we goin' plot to take over the world.
And I'm a make it to the stars with the bars.
Yellow brick road, my life the Wizard of Oz.
I know gettin' a job is always gonna be hard, but for now, life feels better when you slow down.

Country-pop may have ruled the charts, but Kevin Fowler established himself impressively throughout Texas by making modest honky tonk-style country for regular folks. Raised in the West Texas town Amarillo, the guitarist began his musical career on both drums and piano. He left Texas at age 20 for the bright lights of Los Angeles, where he studied music at the Guitar Institute of Technology. He returned to Texas soon after and settled in Austin, where he joined the hard rock band Dangerous Toys. Following this eye-opening stint, Fowler started his own Southern hard rock band, Thunderfoot. He soon came to the realization, however, that he couldn't shake his West Texas roots and gave up hard rock for country, the style of music he grew up with.

Fowler put together a country band in 1998 and began playing Tuesday nights at Babe's on Sixth Street in Austin. Within two years, he'd begun recording albums and struck big with his self-released Beer, Bait and Ammo (2000). The album sold around 30,000 copies in the Texas area and garnered an impressive amount of airplay, particularly for the album's title track. The song became somewhat of a Texas anthem; Mark Chesnutt made the song part of his live show, and Sammy Kershaw recorded it. Fowler returned in 2002 with his third album, High on the Hog, and boasted some impressive guests, including Willie Nelson and David Lee Garza.
