Smile (From United Artists Film "Modern Times") Lyrics

Smile, though your heart is achin'
Smile even though it's breakin'
When there are, are clouds in the sky
You'll get byIf you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shinin' through
For youLight up your face with gladness
Hide, every trace of sadness
Although a tear
May be ever so nearThat's the time, you must keep on tryin'
Smile, what's the use of cryin'
You'll find that life is still worth while
If you just smileLight up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear
May be ever so nearIf you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shinin' through

For youLight up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear
May be ever so nearThat's the time, you must keep on tryin'
Smile, what's the use of cryin'
You'll find that life is still worth while
If you just smileIf you just smile

James Francis Durante, better known as Jimmy Durante or Schnozzle (Snozzle) Durante, (February 10, 1893 – January 29, 1980) was an American singer, pianist, comedian and actor, whose distinctive gravel delivery, comic language butchery, jazz-influenced songs, and large nose — his frequent jokes about it included a frequent self-reference that became his nickname: "Schnozzola" — helped make him one of America's most familiar and popular personalities of the 1920s through the 1970s.
