Snake Song Lyrics

Babe you can't hold me I'm too slippery
I do no sleepin' I get lonely
But you can touch me if you want to
But I got poison I just might bite youLie in circles on the sunlight
Shine like diamonds on a dark night
Ain't no mercy in my smilin'
Only fangs and sweet beguilingWell the future, he don't try to find me
Skin I been through dies behind me
Solid hollow wrapped in hatred
Not a drop of venom wastedBabe you can slip in try to find me
Hold your breath and flat deny me
It makes no difference to my thinkin'
I'll be here when you start sinkin'

Townes Van Zandt (John Townes Van Zandt, born at Fort Worth, Texas, March 7, 1944 and died at Smyrna, Tennessee, January 1, 1997). He was a country and folk singer and poet. While alive, Van Zandt was labelled as a cult musician. Though he had a small and devoted fanbase, he never had a successful album or single, and even had difficulty keeping his recordings in print. Many of his songs, including "If I Needed You," "To Live Is To Fly," and "No Place to Fall" are considered standards of their genre. AllMusic has called him "one of the greatest country and folk artists of his generation."
